Steve Jobs Movie Review

Michael Fassbender & Jeff Daniels (r) star in Steve Jobs

You Lost Me at Hello

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, Steve Jobs takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter. Stars Michael Fassbender, Kate Winslet, Seth Rogen and Jeff Daniels. Directed by Danny Boyle.

Fassbender's Jobs admits, "I'm poorly made," but the Oscar nom does all he can to save Steve Jobs from Boyle's clumsy clutches. Unfortunately, Fassbender is painted into a corner (backstage) for three boringly similar acts, that closer resemble a soap opera, instead of a movie. Minus his toys, Jobs is reduced to a dull "asshole," who inexplicably does battle mere moments before breakthrough events in his career. Even worse, the confrontations/stories are mostly fictional. Fassbender's good (not great) and Daniels is interesting as the "Steve whisperer," but Winslet & Rogen add unintentional laughs and little else. I expected more.
