Slate Wine Bar + Bistro Presents Beaujolais Tasting

From our friends at Slate Wine Bar + Bistro...

Beaujolais Nouveau... and Aged

Slate presents a tasting of Beaujolais

The 2016 Beaujolais Nouveau will debut on Thursday, November 17th. While this is a popular annual vintage still ‘in diapers,’ Beaujolais Nouveau is not all there is to the Gamay grape. There has been renewed emphasis on the production of more complex Beaujolais wines that are aged longer in oak barrels prior to release. Recent years have seen a rise in the number of terroir driven estate-bottled wines made from single vineyards or in one of the Cru Beaujolais communes, where the name of the commune is allowed to be displayed on the label.

For those that cannot wait for this year’s Beaujolais Nouveau, but also want to try some of the finer vintages, Slate’s owner/Sommelier Danny Lledo will be leading private at-the-table tastings of the 2014 Nouveau and three choice Beaujolais for guests on Thursday, November 19th from 5-8 pm. The cost of the tasting is $15. On the list will be:

George Duboeuf Beaujolais "Nouveau" 2015
George Duboeuf Flower Label, Beaujolais 2014
Jean Paul Champagnon Fleurie, Beaujolais 2013
Domaine Laurent Martray Brouilly, Beaujolais 2013

The full dinner, cocktail and wine menu will also be available.

Slate’s monthly wine tastings are unique in that they are done personally for each guest. The wines are explained in this intimate fashion not only to suit subjective taste profiles, but also to answer individual questions, pair with menu items and for the personalized experience.

Slate is located at 2404 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, and is open for lunch, dinner and brunch Monday-Thursday 11:30 AM - 10 PM; Friday-Saturday, 11:30 AM - midnight; and Sunday, 11 AM - 9 PM. For further information and reservations, call (202) 333-4304 or visit slatewinebar.com.
