AU Women's Soccer Battles Boston U. to 1-1 Tie on Saturday
The American University women's soccer team was 2:10 away from defeating Boston University, but the Terriers struck late and forced a 1-1 (2OT) tie on Saturday afternoon on District Day at Reeves Field.
American University is now 3-6-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in the Patriot League. Boston University is 3-4-3 overall and 1-0-1 in the PL.

"We played really well today," said head coach Anabel Hering. "We had a game plan that we stuck to. I am happy with the result."

Neither team scored in the first half, with the Terriers holding a 6-4 edge in shots.

In the 75th minute, the game changed when Yari Bradfield found the head of Audrey Denkler for her second goal of the season. Denkler was parked inside the box awaiting the cross from Bradfield.

After allowing the goal, Boston turned up its intensity and tied the game in the 88th minute. Claire Pleuler sailed a hard driving attempt that hit the crossbar and Erin Neville headed in the rebound at the doorstep.

In overtime, The Terriers had three chances that forced AU keeper Charlene Belanger to make back-to-back stops.

Belanger finished with seven saves while her counterpart Alyssa Parisi made two saves.

Boston finished the game with a 20-5 advantage in shots and controlled the corners, 11-2.

AU will have a quick turnaround before its next PL game on Wednesday at Loyola Maryland. The Eagles return to Reeves Field next Sunday against Lafayette.
