NPR's Bullseye with Jesse Thorn is Going on a World Tour of Several American Cities

NPR’s “Bullseye with Jesse Thorn” announces today a six-city live-show World Tour of Several American Cities. Each show will feature what’s good in popular culture including in-depth interviews with the most revered and revolutionary creative people, irreverent original comedy, and live musical performances. Recent guests include Jesse Eisenberg, Alan Rickman, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sleater-Kinney’s Corin Tucker, Rene Russo, The Pointer Sisters, Jemaine Clement and Keegan-Michael Key.

Guests at the November 20 show will be treated to Bullseye presents “Make Your Thing.” In lieu of the show’s NPR broadcast format, Thorn will be sharing his hour-long talk “Make Your Thing,” which he has been giving to sold-out crowds across the country and abroad since 2010.

What do Chris Hardwick, Killer Mike, Andrew WK and the blog Boing Boing have in common? They knew how to make their thing. “Make Your Thing” focuses on how Thorn turned his college radio show into an independent media powerhouse, and how 12 other people, many of them his friends and colleagues, exemplify the qualities necessary to make independent artistic and career aspirations a reality in the internet age. Join Thorn as he shows that it is possible to merge the commercial world with nonprofit ideals. After the talk, John Hodgman will lead an interactive Q&A session with Thorn.

Tickets will go on sale on Friday, September 25 at BullseyeTour.com for the following shows:

November 13: The Masonic Lodge @ Hollywood Forever - Los Angeles, CA

November 18: Oberon at A.R.T. - Cambridge, MA

November 19: The Bell House - Brooklyn, NY

November 20: The Greene Space @ WNYC - New York, NY - Bullseye Presents: Make Your Thing with Jesse Thorn and John Hodgman

November 21: Johnny Brenda’s - Philadelphia, PA

November 23: Studio One @ NPR - Washington, DC

“Bullseye with Jesse Thorn,” formerly known as “The Sound of Young America,” is carried by public radio stations across the country, and was the first public radio program west of the Mississippi to podcast. It has received plaudits from publications like Time Magazine (“Pick of Podcasts”), Salon.com, McSweeney’s and Wired Magazine which said, “from interviews to reviews to his unique takes on artistic curios, Thorn thinks about pop culture more deeply, and humorously, than anyone else in public radio.”

The show is produced by MaximumFun.org and distributed by NPR.
