August in DC
used to be boring, hot (& humid) and conspicuously void of entertainment; but those days (thankfully) appear to be over. Exhibit A: Last night's third annual
Craft BrewHaHa at the
Old Ebbitt Grill Atrium... a celebration of local craft beer, food & music, with hundreds of attractive, happy 20 and 30-somethings reveling in a nation's capital, that doesn't necessarily skip a beat when others go on vacation.
It was a night filled with
nines, as in "dressed to the," not to mention the number of local craft brewers and chefs on hand to celebrate the final day of the 7th annual
DC Beer Week in style. Tickets cost $65, but included unlimited bites and drinks from some of DC's best eateries (
The Hamilton,
Jack Rose Dining Saloon,
Smoke and Barrell among others.) Our choice for best bite of the night? That's easy: The Slow Roasted Pork Belly Sliders from host Old Ebbitt Grill (and Executive Chef Sal Ferro) followed closely by Russell Jones of Jack Rose, and his scrumptious Pork Jowls.
Great music was provided by 70's/Motown band
SoulCrackers, who kept the joint jumpin' all night long; and there was certainly no shortage of delicious craft beers to compliment all those tasty tapas. I can't wait for
next year's BrewHaHa; but I'll be sure to arrive earlier, leave later and skip dinner beforehand (silly me.)
