Blue Duck Lounge to Offer an Interactive Cheese Tour This September

From our friends at Blue Duck Tavern...

Park Hyatt Washington's Cheese Specialist Sophie Slesinger is pleased to debut Sophie’s Cheese Table, an interactive cheese tour available exclusively at Blue Duck Lounge beginning September 10. Those sharing a passion for cheese are encouraged to book this private class, which is available for small groups up to eight guests. Classes are priced at $65 per person (excluding tax and gratuity), and include three pre-selected American farmstead cheeses along with a charcuterie course and three drink pairings. This special offering is perfect for bridal showers, intimate family gatherings and culinary breaks for meeting & event planners heading into the fall season.

Throughout the two-hour class Cheese Specialist Sophie Slesinger will provide detailed background on the different cheeses, their origins and which wines and beers pair best. Guests can look forward to Slesinger preparing the perfect customized cheese plate paired with bread, house-made jelly and marmalade, dried fruit, quince paste, and pickles. Sophie’s Cheese Table will be available exclusively in Blue Duck Lounge Thursday through Saturday from 7 PM to 9 PM. For reservations or additional information, please contact Marvina Tribbey-Williams (marvina.tribbey-williams@hyatt.com) or call +1 (202) 419-6620.

A native Washingtonian and second generation Sicilian, Slesinger has been nationally recognized for her knowledge and creativity with cheese. She was appointed cheese specialist of Blue Duck Tavern and Blue Duck Lounge in October 2014. Slesinger began learning the art of cheese in New York while working as the program director at Saxelby Cheese, under Cheesemonger Anne Saxelby from 2011-2013. Thanks to the nomination by a chef/client of Saxelby’s Cheese, Slesinger was named to the "30-Under-30: New York City's Food and World Up-And-Comers" list by Zagat in the summer of 2013. After her two-year stint in the Big Apple, Slesinger accepted a position as cheesemonger at GCDC in Washington, DC. Here she selected the restaurant’s featured cheeses, crafted the evening menu, and developed a weekly program focused exclusively on cheese education until her appointment at Park Hyatt Washington.
