Rasika Announces an Upcoming New Cookbook Release

From our friends at Rasika...

Acclaimed Restaurateur Ashok Bajaj and James Beard Award-winning Chef Vikram Sunderam are collaborating with Columnist David Hagedorn to unveil a new Indian cookbook titled RASIKA: Flavorful Recipes From A Groundbreaking Indian Restaurant. It will be published by HarperCollins with Dan Halpern and Gabriella Doob at Ecco, working through literary agent Joy Tutela of David Black Literary Agency. RASIKA will make its debut in the fall of 2016. The book will share 100 artfully created recipes showcasing the cuisine of the famed Rasika restaurant in Washington, DC, where Indian cooking is transformed into a fresh, modern four-star dining experience.

Rasika opened in December 2005 and was quickly recognized as one of the America’s “Best New Restaurants” by Esquire, as well as one of Food & Wine’s “Hottest Restaurants in The World.” The restaurant has consistently been selected on the “100 Best Restaurants” by Washingtonian magazine, and has received a “four-star” rating from The Washington Post. DC Modern Luxury magazine also praised Rasika as “one of the best dining experiences in the city under Sunderam’s artful hand in the kitchen.”

Sunderam, who joined Bajaj as the opening chef of Rasika, currently spearheads the kitchens at both Rasika and sister restaurant, Rasika West End. He captured the “Best Chef Mid-Atlantic” James Beard Award in 2014, and has been invited to cook at the White House and at the US Department of State, participating in its Diplomatic Culinary Partnership program. In September 2014, Sunderam was asked by the State Department to prepare a special dinner for the Prime Minister of India, as well as to orchestrate the first Diwali catering event in October 2014.
