Ball Up Hosts Basketball DC Championship, July 12th

The Ball Up Million Dollar Summer Challenge (www.ballupmdsc.com), an elite summer basketball challenge that hit DC this summer, is hosting their championship game on Sunday, July 12th at 3:00 PM, taking place at Largo High School (505 Largo Rd., Upper Marlboro, MD 20774) with a slam dunk and 3-point contest to start of the night.

The crowned champs will be taking home a $50,000 cash prize and a chance to play for another $500,000 in the national championships, to prove that D.C. has the best street-ball talent in the nation.


Play-off games leading up to the grand finale are running on Friday, July 10th (6:30 PM) and Saturday, July 11th (3:00 PM.) The below teams are some of the great talent competing in the play-offs starting tomorrow. All games are free, and open to the public.

Highlighted teams in the MDSC play-offs include:

• Lincoln Park - An all Baltimore squad put together by Ball Up All-Star Baby Shaq coached by Tavares Cooper, co-creator of the successful semi-pro team Rockville Victors.

• Team Trouble - Coached by Curtis “Trouble” Smith who is a street-ball legend on the DC and Maryland courts. Featured players include seasoned overseas players Brian Chase, Louis White, and Jeff Allen playing in leagues world-wide.

• Whiz Kids - Coached by Greg Jones, who was a two-time Player of the Year recipient in the Eastern Conference, former NBA player, and a vital player for the Wisconsin Flyers where he played for the rest of his career. Tre Kelley, Pops Mensah Bonsu, and David Hawkins who have prosperous careers overseas and decorated NCAA statistics are some of their featured players.
