Women's Lacrosse: Lehigh 16 American 6

In its final home game of the season, the American lacrosse team fell to Lehigh, 16-6, on Sunday afternoon at Jacobs Field.

Although the score was tied at 1-1 early in the contest, Lehigh (8-7, 3-4 PL) was able to take advantage of its free-position opportunities in the first half to extend its lead to 8-3 with less than five minutes remaining in the period.

Terese Buechli (#21) scores her 21st goal of the season

Junior Terese Buechli ended a 3-0 run by the Mountain Hawks with a free-position goal in the final minute of the first half, bringing American within a goal. However, the Eagles went cold after the break, going more than 20 minutes without a score to enable Lehigh to push its lead to double figures.

While American had a 14-9 advantage on draw controls won, the Eagles finished with 12 turnovers, compared to just six for the Mountain Hawks. In addition, Lehigh scored on 7-of-8 free-position shots, while AU converted on just 1-of-6.

Sarah Bootman's 6th goal tied the score at 1-1

The Eagles (4-11, 2-5 PL) were also penalized with seven yellow cards, leading to three man-up goals for the Mountain Hawks.

Jordan Harrington (#23) added a goal & 2 assists

Senior Jordan Harrington, making her final appearance at Jacobs Field, led American's offense with a goal and two assists, while classmate Jamie Silverman added two goals.

Soph Madison Hoon (#9) on the attack

For Lehigh, Allison LaBeau finished with four goals and two assists to lead the way, while Carli Sukonik added four tallies.

The Eagles wrap up the regular season next Saturday, April 18, when they visit Colgate at 1 PM.
