Solas Nua to Show “Close to Evil” in Holocaust Remembrance Month

Tomi Reichental lost 35 family members in the Holocaust, and has vowed to share his story

From our friends at Solas Nua...

Through the generosity of Praxis Pictures, Irish arts organization Solas Nua will show the film, “Close to Evil” on April 28 at 7 p.m. at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 10th and G Streets, NW. Documentarian Gerry Gregg follows Irish citizen Tomi Reichental, 79, a survivor of the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, as he goes to Germany to confront a former camp guard.

Imprisoned by the Nazis at nine, Mr. Reichental had not even shared his story with his sons until after his wife’s death in 2003. He now vows to relate his experience at every opportunity. This beautiful film helps him accomplish his mission, while exploring what it means to endure unspeakable evil. This screening is free and open to the public.
