Majority Whips Top Cherry Blossom Bombshells 162-130

It's time to Jam!

Revenge is a dish best served cold. Back in December, the Cherry Blossom Bombshells had their way with the Majority Whips at the Dulles SportsPlex, more than doubling their score 182-86. In the world of flat-track roller derby, that's a mighty big margin... the kind of margin, the losing team doesn't soon forget. The rematch was held this past Saturday at the vaunted DC Armory, part of a DC Rollergirls doubleheader (including the DC Demoncats and Scare Force One.) As predicted, the Majority Whips wanted revenge, and got it... holding off the Bombshells in a 162-130 thriller before a raucous (even wave-inducing) crowd.

This was only my second post-childhood roller derby; and truth be told, I'm becoming a big fan. It certainly doesn't hurt, that I now have some idea of the rules (how to score, etc.) It's non-stop excitement with plenty of big hits and fancy moves... all performed by lovely ladies with names like Rocky Brawlboa, Grand Theft Autumn and Jean Rot 'n Bury (classic!)

Yes May’hem clears a path

It's also dirt-cheap to get into... $15 per ticket with two more doubleheaders scheduled for next month (May 9th and 30th) at the aforementioned Dulles SportsPlex. After that, it's on to the Season Championships, June 27th (also at the Dulles SportsPlex.) Click here to purchase tickets. DC Rollergirls returns for its 10th season at DC Armory in the fall (schedule TBA, usually October or November) and we'll be sure to keep you posted.
