Al Pacino stars in Danny Collins |
The Headliner
Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Al Pacino stars as aging 1970s rocker Danny Collins, who can't give up his hard-living ways. But when his manager (Christopher Plummer) uncovers a 40 year-old undelivered letter written to him by John Lennon, he decides to change course and embarks on a heartfelt journey to rediscover his family, find true love and begin a second act.
Pacino proves you can teach an old dog, new tricks in the corny, yet oh-so-charming Danny Collins. Danny's addicted to bimbos, booze, coke, girdles and self-tanner; but changes his tune after receiving Lennon's letter. He shacks up at a Jersey Hilton, and what ensues is bound to make you smile. Bank on lots of familiar faces; but make no mistake, this movie is all about Pacino. Plummer remarks, "He's got a good heart, but it's usually halfway up his ass." Vintage Pacino with lots of laughs, more than enough to survive a negative turn towards the end. Great "patter" indeed.
