Uncensored Movie Review

Richard Velez stars in Stephanie Martinez's Uncensored

To Tell the Truth

IMDb Plot: Through the lives of three Colombian journalists, the film recounts the peril journalists endured while covering Colombia's narcoterrorism violence in the 1980s during the reign of Pablo Escobar's MedellĂn Cartel, the 1990s during the rise of corruption in the military and 2000s during a behind-closed-doors oppressive administration.

Stephanie Martinez sheds light on the most dangerous side of journalism in Uncensored, an unnerving (yet revealing) expose on the many roadblocks to reporting the truth in Columbia. No easy task, especially in a "country (that's) sleeping with the enemy." Martinez explores various avenues... some more infamous than others, but equally deadly. Evidently, bravery isn't in short supply; although you have to wonder why these journalists do what they do. Between the False Positives Scandal and the casualness of "correcting" a reporter (killing them) it's a wonder she found anyone willing to talk. Sobering, uplifting and bound to start conversations.
