Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group Celebrates 56th Wine Week

Women of Winemaking Take Flight

There is no better way to kick-off the spring season than celebrating prominent women winemakers. Now through the month of March, Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group will be featuring three unique wines from notable women winemakers. The new seasonal promotion offers customers the opportunity to sample the wine flight of all three premium wines for $20.

The world of wine has been ever more appealing due to the increasing number of wines being made exclusively by women. Smith & Wollensky will feature three world-class wines:


•  Galerie Wines Naissance, a 2011 100 percent Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc from Oakville, California. Led by winemaker Laura Diaz-Muñoz, the wine is rich and full-bodied but also crisp with a nice balance between citrus and some tropical flavors, with a long, mineral finish.

•  Cambria Estate Winery of Santa Maria, California offers 2013 Cambria Clone 4, a 100 percent Pinot Noir. Dark garnet color, this complex wine is brimming with rich red fruit, Asian spices and earthly characteristics backed with a silky tannin structure and a long balanced finish. The estate winemaker is Denise Shurtleff. Additionally, each Cambria bottle features an original watercolor painting by the winery’s co-proprietor, Julia Jackson.

•  2012 Bordeaux Lafite Réserve Spéciale from the famed Les Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR) winery based in St. Emilion, France. Intense and aromatic on the nose, dominated by aromas of berries and licorice, this wine is generous and full-bodied on the palate. Diane Flamand, the Collection Wines Manager, joined the DBR team’s mastery in 2004.

Smith & Wollensky will also celebrate the 56th National Wine Week, March 9-13. National Wine Week is an opportunity for wine enthusiasts to sample a variety of super-premium wines. All of the first-class domestic and international wines are carefully selected to complement the Smith & Wollensky award-winning menu. Both of the S&W Private Reserve Sauvignon Blanc and Meritage are included in the individual wine lists.

Smith & Wollensky will serve up 25,000 glasses of wine from some of the world’s most exclusive winemakers. Smith & Wollensky patrons will be able to sample 10 wines for $20 with the purchase of a lunch entree. Selections are customized and will change daily.
