The In Series Presents Mozart's Don Giovanni, March 14-23

From our friends at the In Series...

Five Performances Between March 14th and 23rd, at GALA Hispanic Theatre

The In Series’ opera season continues with Mozart and DaPonte's masterpiece, Don Giovanni. The work, a dramma giocoso (funny tragedy) based on the legend of the infamous libertine Don Giovanni and his supernatural stone guest, is universally listed among the most perfect opera in the repertory. The newly commissioned English adaptation is by DC writer Bari Biern and Stage Director Tom Mallan, the writer-director team that created last season’s blockbuster In Series hit, a Wild West version of Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio. Their Don Giovanni explores the opera’s themes of seduction, honor, obsession, crime, and punishment, within a 1920s American religious revival setting, with the title character as an amoral, but charismatic preacher.

Acclaimed Music Director and conductor Stanley Thurston is again at the musical helm, leading a chamber ensemble and the stellar cast: Andrew Thomas Pardini* as Don Giovanni, Alex Alburqueque as Leporello, Randa Rouweyha as Sister Anna, David Brundage as the Pastor (Commendatore), Daniele Lorio as Sister Elvira, Aaron Halevy* as Ottavio, Laura Wehrmeyer Fuentes as Zerlina, Sean Pflueger as Masetto, with Nicholas Carratura*, Melissa Chavez, Kenneth Derby, Chris Herman, Teresa Ferrara, Elizabeth Overmann*. The design team lists Stefan Johnson, Elizabeth McFadden, Sehar Peerzada and Brian J. Shaw.
