From our friends at Chance for Life...

The 10th Annual Chance for Life Poker Tournament, Wine Tasting & After Party, a star-studded charity event hosted by RedPeg Marketing, will be held Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Sphinx Club in Washington, DC.

The event - the biggest in its history - will feature a poker tournament, wine tasting, scotch tasting, raffle, and after party with a band and DJ. All proceeds from the event will benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand and pediatric spinal cord cancer research.

Tickets are still available at chanceforlife.net.

Confirmed VIPs and celebrities attending the festivities include: The Sports Junkies: Lurch, EB and Cakes from 106.7 The Fan; Teresa Davis, Miss District of Columbia 2014; Jim Vance, NBC 4 Anchor; Angie Goff, NBC 4 Anchor; Carol Maloney, NBC 4 Sports Anchor and Reporter; Jason Pugh, NBC 4 Sports Anchor and Reporter; Doug Kammerer, News4 Meteorologist; Will Thomas, FOX 5 Co-Anchor; Shawn Springs, former professional cornerback of the Redskins, Seahawks and Patriots; Giuseppe Lanzone, U.S. Olympic Rower; Brian Jarosinski of ABC’s The Bachelorette; Brian Mitchell, Former NFL Player and Current Radio and TV Show Host; Sarah Fraser, Host of Sarah, Ty and Mel in the Mornings on 107.3; Dr. Katy Nelson, Associate Veterinarian at Belle Haven Animal Medical Centre, Host of The Pet Show with Dr. Katy on News Channel 8 and WTOP’s Dr. Pawz, and Reporter for WJLA ABC7 News.

Chance for Life is the District’s largest charity poker tournament event. More than 200 players will compete to win the grand prize of a $10,000 seat at the World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas.

The 10th annual tournament will be the biggest ever in the event’s history. Last year’s event alone brought in more than $100,000. Since its inception in 2005, Chance for Life has raised more than $1 million for pediatric spinal cord cancer research.

The inspiration for the event is 14-year-old Kennedy Snyder, a beautiful young woman who has been battling spinal cord cancer since being diagnosed at the age of 2. She attends the event every year and has an undeniable spirit of optimism and hope, despite multiple surgeries and rounds of chemotherapy.

“This event is a life changer. For kids like Kennedy and their families, it’s wonderful to see the incredible energy and support from the folks who turn out,” said Jeff Snyder, Kennedy’s father and Chief Inspiration Officer at Inspira Marketing Group. “Spinal cord tumors are incredibly rare and incredibly underfunded. Support for research of spinal tumors is essential to finding a cure. It’s a race against the clock and every second counts. That’s why this event truly is a chance for life.”

After the poker tournament, scotch tasting will be provided by Republic National Distributing Company featuring Pernod Ricard products, and wine tasting will be provided by Estancia and Mark West. Liquor will be donated by Beam Suntory.

The evening will conclude with an after party including live music by the Doug Segree Band and DJ Dirty Hands.
