Frank Ruta Makes His Eagerly Awaited Return

Capella Washington, D.C., Georgetown has snapped-up Frank Ruta, the award-winning chef behind the acclaimed Palena restaurant to helm The Grill Room at the hotel. Regarded as one of America’s best chefs, Frank Ruta spent ten years at The White House as the personal lunch and dinner chef to the Carter, Reagan and Bush families. As Executive Chef, Ruta will bring his unique culinary philosophy to The Grill Room and all of Capella’s F&B programming. Ruta plans to produce flavorful seasonal dishes that meet the spectrum of diners’ different levels of culinary experiences while maintaining a high level cooking technique.

The perfectionist that he is, Ruta has won almost all of the restaurant industry’s top accolades including being named by Food & Wine as “Best New Chef” in 2001 and then going on to being named “Best Chef Mid-Atlantic” by the James Beard Foundation in 2007. It is no surprise that his restaurants have received equally wide acclaim – recent accolades include Forbes Travel Guide awarding Palena four stars in 2014 and Washingtonian magazine naming the establishment to its “Best of DC 2014” list.
