Bistrot Royal Opens January 22

From our friends at Bistrot Royal...

Classic French Bistrot Opens at 1201 North Royal Street

Chefs Christophe and Michelle Poteaux will introduce Bistrot Royal (1201 North Royal Street; 703-519-9110), their new everyday French bistrot on Thursday, January 22, in the former home of its sister restaurant, Bastille. The casual neighborhood brasserie will serve lunch, dinner and desserts, and will offer guests a taste of Parisian living near the Alexandria waterfront.

Warm woods, red accents and private banquettes that invite guests to cozy up with a café au lait and a newspaper are a few touches that make Bistrot Royal feel like a characteristic French café. The restaurant comfortably seats 42 guests amongst its new banquettes, eight high top bar seats, and 24 café chairs set al fresco on the patio.

Salvador Alvarez, who has worked with the Chefs Poteaux since Bastille opened in 2006, will serve as Chef de Cuisine. He quickly became a prodigy, perfecting his skills and techniques through Christophe’s contemporary menus. Alvarez is primed to deliver French comfort dishes that will keep Old Town neighbors coming back day after day. Dina Ramstead joins the team as Bistrot Manager, most recently working in Denver where she managed several thriving culinary hotspots including James Beard Award-winning Chef Jennifer Jasinski’s French destination Bistro Vendome.

Bistrot Royal will quickly convert both first time guests and longtime fans of the Poteauxs into daily customers with comforting dishes like croque-monsieurs, steam mussels in white wine sauce, duck confit and coq au vin. Michelle will offer several of her most popular desserts including vanilla bean crème brulée and profiteroles au chocolat, which are perfect after dinner or as an afternoon treat.

Bistrot Royal will be open for lunch from 11:30 AM - 2 PM and dinner from 5:30 - 9:30 PM Tuesday - Saturday; for brunch from 11:30 AM - 2:30 PM and dinner from 4 - 8:30 PM Sundays, and closed Monday.
