The Actors’ Center is pleased to announce that it will hold a musical theatre audition in February of 2015 as part of its Winter Audition Series. This will be the first musical theatre audition that the organization has produced, and the first of its kind in the D.C. area.
The musical theatre audition will be held on Monday, February 23 at Adventure Theatre MTC, in their Rockville studios. An audition for monologues only will be held on Tuesday, February 24 in the same studios.
The Actors’ Center has partnered with Adventure Theatre MTC in an effort to expand the opportunities for casting directors to see new singing, dancing and acting talent while continuing to fill the need for traditional stage acting with the monologue-only day.
Actors attending the musical theatre day will learn a dance routine to be performed in a group; followed by two minutes of individual audition time, during which they can fill with two songs or a song and a monologue. Auditors will include casting directors for musical theatre. Actors attending the monologue day will be given two minutes to perform two monologues or one single dramatic piece for casting directors from theatre and film.
Based on their previous “Lottery” auditions, The Actors’ Center expects that approximately 120 people will be seen each day. The auditions will be open to current members of the Actors’ Center only, however, membership is open to anyone. Details on joining can be found at actorscenter.org.
The “AC” is a membership organization devoted to expanding the actor’s performing palette through workshops, classes, play-readings and networking events, and has a large membership of all levels of actors, from beginners to seasoned professionals. The organization maintains a digital, searchable database of its members, which is available at any time to casting directors who establish an account at the following address: http://www.actorscenter.org/associate.cfm.
The dates for registration will be announced in early January. Interested actors should follow the organization’s website at actorscenter.org, as well as its Facebook and Twitter pages. Space is limited, so actors will be encouraged to register early. Casting directors interested in attending either day should contact the Actors’ Center at staff@actorscenter.org.
