Mount Vernon Celebrates Veterans Day

George Washington’s Home, Mount Vernon, Celebrates Veterans Day

Special Activities on Tuesday, November 11

Mount Vernon, the home of America’s first commander in chief, George Washington, salutes veterans with special events and free admission for all active duty, former, or retired military personnel on Veterans Day, Tuesday, November 11. Throughout the day, veterans are invited to place a flower at Washington’s Tomb and all guests are invited to participate in Mount Vernon’s special Veterans Day programming.

At 11 a.m., enjoy a rousing performance by the barbershop chorus the Harmony Heritage Singers in the Robert H. and Clarice Smith Auditorium. Listen to the Air Force String Orchestra perform patriotic and popular tunes in the Robert H. and Clarice Smith Auditorium at 3 p.m.

The Harmony Heritage Singers will perform at Mount Vernon, Nov. 11

Quilts of Honor will have a display of quilts in the Vaughan Lobby, outside of the Robert H. and Clarice Smith Auditorium. The volunteers who make up this organization will also be giving quilts to active military and veterans in honor of and appreciation for their service.
