GW Volleyball Falls to Saint Louis, 3-1

Three Players Record Double-Digit Kills

Three players recorded double-digit kills, led by sophomore Chidima Osuchukwu's 15 winners, but it was not enough as Saint Louis recorded a 3-1 victory over the George Washington volleyball team on Friday night at the Charles E. Smith Center. Set scores were 18-25, 20-25, 25-17, 24-26.

In addition to Osuchukwu, senior Kelsey Newman and sophomore Loren Williams each finished with double-digit kills for GW (12-5, 3-1 A-10). Newman totaled 14 kills in addition to seven digs and two block assists while Williams added 10 kills and four digs.

Saint Louis (13-6, 3-2 A-10) led wire-to-wire in the first set on its way to a 25-18 victory.

Chidima Osuchukwu led all scorers with 19.5 points

The Colonials committed just three attack errors in the second set, hitting .310, but Saint Louis used a late run to take a 2-0 lead in the match. With the score tied 17-17 late in the frame, the Billikens  closed on an 8-3 run to earn a 25-20 victory.

Nenye Okoro (#13) paced St. Louis with 17 kills

The Colonials rebounded in the third set, forcing 10 Billiken attack errors, en route to a 25-17 victory to cut the deficit to 2-1. GW raced out to a 4-1 lead and did not trail for the duration of the set.

Amanda Ault made some key adjustments before the third set

The fourth set featured nine ties and four lead changes before Saint Louis clinched the match with a 26-24 victory. The Colonials held a late 23-22 lead but Saint Louis responded by closing the set on a 4-1 run to clinch the match.

Jordan Timmer distributed 44 assists

Junior Jordan Timmer dished out 44 assists in addition to nine digs while junior Maddy Doyle led all players with 16 digs.

Osuchukwu posted a match-high six blocks (three solo, three assists) to lead the Colonials at the net.

GW returns to action on Saturday night against Dayton. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
