Georgetown to Play Florida in First Round of 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis

The Georgetown University men’s basketball team will play the University of Florida in the first round of the 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament, being held from Nov. 26-28 at Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

The Hoyas will be among eight teams spending Thanksgiving in Atlantis as part of the 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis, joined by North Carolina, UCLA, Florida, Butler, Wisconsin, Oklahoma and the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Georgetown will play Florida in a first round matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 26 at 9:30 p.m., on AXS TV.

The winner of that game advances to play either Wisconsin or UAB on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 3:30 p.m. The losing teams advance to play on Thursday, Nov. 27 at 9:30 p.m.

The first day of play in the Battle 4 Atlantis - Wednesday, Nov. 26 - features four games, starting with Butler playing North Carolina at noon on ESPN2, followed by UCLA against Oklahoma at 2:30 p.m., and Wisconsin vs. UAB at 7 p.m.

Atlantis is pleased to welcome ESPN this year as part of a multiyear agreement for media rights, alongside three-year television partner AXS TV. All 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis games will be aired live on one of the ESPN networks or AXS TV from Atlantis’ Imperial Arena, the famed resort’s unique and impressive 3,900-seat arena.

Sports fans can follow the 12-game tournament live, with airings on ESPN, ESPN2, and AXS TV.   AXS TV is available nationally on AT&T U-verse (channel 1106) DIRECTV (channel 340) DISH (channel 167) Verizon FiOS (channel 569) as well as Charter, Comcast/Xfinity, Suddenlink and other cable, satellite and telco providers. The 12-game tournament will be held the week of Thanksgiving, November 26-28, 2014. The eight-team field boasts backgrounds that include a combined 195 NCAA Tournament appearances, as well as 53 Final Four appearances and 20 National Championships.

The 2014 Battle 4 Atlantis officially begins on Friday, Nov. 14 as teams traveling to Paradise Island first host a designated opponent on the mainland United States as part of a four-game schedule. The Hoyas will host Robert Morris on Saturday, Nov. 22 at Verizon Center.
