WHAT: Union Market, home to the highly acclaimed food market announces the fourth annual DC Scoop on Saturday, July 19, 2014. A day for ice cream lovers and makers a like. This free event will be held in the indoor event space above the market, Dock 5 and the alley behind it. It is a day of activities and fun with ice cream to taste and buy from both local artisans and makers from other cities as well. There will be a wide array of ice cream products including gelato, ice cream sandwiches, popsicles and good old-fashioned ice cream.
What could go better with Ice Cream than Timber Pizza Co. and Luke’s Lobster? Both will be serving food throughout the day.
It is the best of the best on show with a panel of judges that will determine the winner of the DC Scoop. Judges include past DC Scoop winners Robb Duncan of Dolcezza Gelato and Victoria Lai of Ice Cream Jubilee.
The DC Scoop is not only a fun event, but a chance for small businesses to showcase their product and gain exposure I the DC market. Since winning The DC Scoop last year, Victoria Lai has taken her business to the next level, opening her first brick and mortar location in DC this month!
“Ice Cream Jubilee and I would not be where we are today if it hadn’t been for The DC Scoop” Victoria noted earlier this month.
For kids there will be an Ice Cream eating contest for demonstrations and raffles as well as giveaways throughout the day.
