Slate Wine Bar + Bistro to Host Wine Tasting for Pinot Noir Lovers

From our friends at Slate Wine Bar + Bistro...

According to the Wine Institute, the United States consumed 856 million gallons of wine in 2012, the number increasing every year. Here to encourage wine drinkers everywhere, Slate Wine Bar + Bistro is hosting “Sommelier Night Wine Tasting” on July 24th, 2014.

“Elizabeth Banker, co-owner of Slate Wine Bar + Bistro will be hosting the tasting, featuring different Pinot Noir wines,” affirms Danny Lledo, manager of Slate Wine Bar + Bistro. “The tasting will include five choice wines for the special price of $25.”

According to DrinkWine.com, Pinot Noir wine originated in France and is now grown in vineyards across the world, from France to Germany, New Zealand and the United States. Slate Wine Bar + Bistro has selected the following exquisite five wines for the tasting:

• Forrest Estate Pinot Noir 2012 – Marlborough, New Zealand
• La Follete 2012 – North Coast, California
• Iris Vineyards 2012 – Willamette Valley, Oregon
• Rene Bouvier “Le Chapitre” 2010 – Burgundy, France
• Premium Pinot Noir from Elizabeth’s Private Collection

According to Total Wine & More, Pinot Noir is experiencing a golden age, but this is a grape variety legendary for its difficulty. Thin-skinned, late ripening, prone to rot and easily damaged by rough handling in the vineyard and winery, Pinot Noir is notoriously tough to make into good wine. The reason winegrowers continue to put up with its fickleness is that when their efforts are successful, the resulting wine can be extraordinary. Great Pinot Noir is a decadent experience, a life-long memory.

The wine is a perfect pairing with entrees on the dinner menu, such as:
• Seasonal Risotto - season vegetables, truffle oil, parmesan. Additions: chicken, shrimp or ahi tuna, steak or scallops.
• Pan Seared Duck Breast – dried cherry sauce, seasonal vegetables, jasmine rice.
• Bistro Filet – mushroom peppercorn sauce, fries, roasted asparagus.

“Reservations are available anytime between 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM,” affirms Lledo. “The full menu will also be available. We invite any and everyone to come down and try a great selection of wines at Slate Wine Bar + Bistro.”
