Capitals Release '14-15 Preseason Schedule

Barry Trotz is all smiles now: Will it last?

Out with the old (Adam Oates, George McPhee) and in with the new. The Barry Trotz era officially gets underway September 21 at Verizon Center, as the Washington Capitals open their 2014-15 preseason at home vs. the Buffalo Sabres at 5:00 PM. All eyes will be on the former Nashville Predators head coach, as he attempts to lead the Caps back to the playoffs after last year's disappointing season.

The Caps will host four games at Verizon Center this preseason, as the Baltimore Hockey Classic is, alas no more. Bad ice conditions and low attendance put an end to 1st Mariner Arena's chances of hosting an exhibition game for a third straight year. It gives local fans one more chance to see the Caps at Verizon (where they belong.) To purchase tickets, click here. The 2014-15 regular season schedule will be announced Sunday... at which time, we'll find out who the Caps will host for the 2015 Winter Classic (please be Pittsburgh, please be Pittsburgh!)
