Photo Recap: Harlem Globetrotters 81 World All-Stars 70

Hi-Lite and fan Jonathan say hello to the crowd

Plenty of Hi-Lites

I still remember the first time I saw the Harlem Globetrotters live. I was just a kid, and it was at the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland. They were led by the Clown Prince Meadowlark Lemon and Curly Neal; and they were awesome. Since then, only the names have changed (hello Hi-LiteSweet J and Too Tall) but "Sweet Georgia Brown" still sounds as sweet as ever.

The Globetrotters returned to Verizon Center yesterday, for the first of a day-night doubleheader: The second half of which (in addition to today's contest at 2:00 PM) was held at George Mason's Patriot Center. The crowd was into it from the word GO, and team captain Kris "Hi-Lite" Bruton didn't disappoint.

I don't think Hi-Lite saw that coming

Take his exchange with Nancy, a fan sitting courtside (who appeared to be missing her purse.) Hi-Lite invited her on to the court with the following words of reassurance, "Don't be afraid Nancy, we're the Harlem Globetrotters. We won't hurt you."

Handles (#14) looks a little nervous, don't you think?

After finding her purse, Hi-Lite declared, "Nancy, I have another gift for you." Uh-oh. Let's just say Nancy won some game-worn items that she hadn't planned on. Funny stuff.

Aw... another gift for Nancy
