GW Men's Hoops Sweeps #RevRivalry with 66-58 Win Over Mason
Creek Pours in 22 Points, Armwood Records Double-Double With 11 Points, 14 Rebounds
GW men's basketball completed a Revolutionary Rivalry sweep of new Atlantic 10 foe George Mason on Sunday with a 66-58 victory at the Charles E. Smith Center.
The victory is GW's 13th in 14 games at the Smith Center this season, marking the second-most home wins in one season since the facility opened in 1975. The Colonials will look to finish 14-1 at home when they host the Saint Joseph's Hawks for Senior Night this Wednesday at 9 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Comcast SportsNet Plus, SNY, CSN Philadelphia and CampusInsiders.com.

GW (21-7) is now tied with Massachusetts for fourth place in the Atlantic 10 standings at 9-5, one game behind third place VCU and two behind SJU with two regular season games remaining. The top four teams in the final regular season standings will earn a bye through to the A-10 Championship quarterfinals at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Graduate student Maurice Creek blew open a one-possession game at the break with three consecutive three pointers to start the second half and GW staved off a Mason (10-18, 3-11) rally midway through the period to secure another point in the inaugural yearlong #RevRivalry. The point now pulls GW Athletics even at 6-6 in the #RevRivalry against Mason with seven spring sport meetings remaining.

Creek scored 18 of his game-high 22 points in the second half and made four 3-pointers to climb to ninth on the program's single-season three-pointers made list with 64.
Senior Isaiah Armwood added his ninth double-double of the season and 19th of his career with 11 points and career-high tying 14 rebounds. He became the 35th player in program history to grab 500 rebounds at GW (507), and added three assists and three steals to come within five assists of becoming just the second player in school history to record at least 500 points, 500 rebounds, 100 blocks, 100 assists and 50 steals in their GW career.

Sophomores Patricio Garino and Kevin Larsen netted 13 and 11 points, respectively, to give the Colonials four double-digit scorers for the 14th time this season.
The game's two ties and seven lead changes all came in a low-scoring first half as GW held a slim 26-24 advantage at the break. Mason scored 11 points off nine takeaways in the opening period, but GW made four 3-pointers and junior John Kopriva hit a pair of foul shots three seconds before the break to give the hosts the lead for good.

Creek created some separation for the Colonials with threes on their first three possessions then added a tip-in to open a double-digit lead, 35-24, less than two minutes into the second half.
Mason used a 13-3 run to trim its deficit to 42-41 at the midpoint of the period, but GW responded with 15 of the next 17 points, including seven from Garino and a stretch of 10 unanswered, to grab its largest lead at 57-43 with 3:28 to play.

The Colonials then made nine free throws down the stretch to clinch the sweep and improve to 12-2 all-time and 10-0 at the Smith Center against the Patriots.
