After an exciting opening weekend, the DC Shorts Film Festival is proud announce this year's winners (see list below). Short film lovers will be able to view all the winners along with all of the other films the festival is showcasing throughout this week. The festival ends this weekend, featuring the Best of DC Shorts from September 27-29.

Now in its tenth year, the DC Shorts Film Festival is one of the best-known short film festivals in the country and the largest on the east coast. The films run the gamut in genre, style and subject, but are unified by their abbreviated run times of one – twenty minutes. Films range in content with something for everyone, including dramas, comedies, animation, sci-fi, documentaries and experimental films. Best of DC Shorts marks the culmination of the festival that now lasts 11 days and shows over 150 films from 22 countries. This year's opening weekend boasted four sold-out shows and a 20 percent increase in ticket sales over last year.

Best of DC Shorts features two different showcases with their own unique sets of films - a separate ticket is needed for each show.

Filmmaker's Choice (a peer award): Uisce Beatha (Whiskey/Water of Life)
