Energy Kitchen Hosts Press Tasting

New burger on the block Energy Kitchen (1901 L Street, NW) hosted a grand opening/tasting earlier tonight, inviting area press to sample the atmosphere and menu of the first DC version of the popular New York eatery. A full house enjoyed samples of Energy Kitchen's healthy alternatives to traditional fast food fare.

Energy Kitchen president and co-founder Anthony Leone was on hand to talk burgers, fries and expansion. Leone and company plan on opening several new locations in the DC area... music to this burger lover's ears.

Everyone in attendance appeared to have a great time. Energy Kitchen is nice to look at... bright, clean and spacious. Come spring, they'll expand even further by adding outdoor seating along a covered portion of L Street. I stopped by last week to check out their breakfast samplings, and walked away impressed; but I couldn't wait to try out their lunch and dinner menu.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to sample as much as I would have liked. I only had 30 minutes to feast (GW basketball was calling) but I seemed to miss out on most of the food offerings, save for a few hors d'oeuvres (corn and edamame salad, protein brownie) and a BBQ Turkey Burger that was sadly far from satisfying. Success is all about timing, and my 30 minutes couldn't have been more mistimed: After all, I come for the food, not the chat. I'll stop by again this Saturday and conduct a more thorough investigation.
