Introduces its hottest sauce ever, PERi-PERi VUSA

Nando’s hot sauce just got a lot hotter. Available starting today at all U.S. restaurants, Nando’s introduces PERi-PERi Vusa, its hottest sauce ever, with the highest concentration of PERi-PERi peppers.

Named ‘Vusa,’ which means ‘excitement and fire’ in Zulu, the new sauce boasts more PERi-PERi chili peppers than any other Nando’s offering. PERi-PERi Vusa also contains classic ingredients like olive oil, lemon juice and garlic, creating an intense, full-bodied taste.


“PERi-PERi Vusa is our hottest flame yet, and a great addition to our restaurants’ existing sauce collection,” said John Fisher, CEO of Nando’s PERi-PERi USA. “It’s versatile enough to drizzle on everything from our flame-grilled chicken wings and PERi chips to our Ancient Grains salad, yet fiery enough to impress mates and dates alike.”

Previously, Nando’s hottest offering was its XX Hot PERi-PERi Sauce at its condiment station. PERi-PERi, or African Bird’s Eye Chili, is the heart and soul of the Nando’s experience. The South African restaurant known worldwide for its spicy flame-grilled chicken, Nando’s has built an intensely loyal following by providing fresh food in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly service.

“We marinate our chicken in PERi-PERi for at least 24 hours, so the flavor goes right through to the bone,” Fisher added. “Then we grill it over an open flame it and baste it with PERi-PERi sauce to our customers’ preferred spice.”
