GW Volleyball Topped by Maryland Eastern Shore

Colonials turn attention to A-10 opener at La Salle on Friday

The George Washington volleyball team concluded its busy four-match homestand on Tuesday night, but was unable to get past visiting Maryland Eastern Shore in a 3-0 loss at the Charles E. Smith Center.

Key Stats:
• Junior Kelsey Clark added to her team-leading kill total and eclipsed 100 for the season with a team-high 10 kills.

4 kills for senior Kristel Moor (#15)

• Clark's winners came courtesy of a .412 attack percentage as the Chicago native committed just a trio of errors.

Freshman Sydney Welch led all players with 15 digs

• Freshman Sydney Welch led all players with 15 digs and added a trio of assists.

Jaimeson Lee (#14) led GW with 14 assists & 2 service aces

Jaimeson Lee served up a pair of service aces to elevate her team-leading total to 13 on the season.

Set 1: MDES 27, GW 25
• The first set was the closest of the match with 16 ties and four lead changes.

Senior Aaliya Davidson (#11) added 7 kills & 7 digs

• Both teams committed eight attack errors in the frame but the Hawks' 13-12 edge in kills proved to be the difference maker.

• GW served for the set with leads of 24-22 and 25-24 but MDES sided out each time before ending the frame with three straight points

Set 2: MDES 25, GW 19
• The Hawks used a substantial run to erase an early deficit and never looked back.

Frosh Marianna Warren (#5) totaled 4 kills & 15 total attacks 

GW played out to a 5-3 lead before eight straight points by the Hawks started a 12-1 run that resulted in a 15-6 lead for the visitors.

The Colonials started to regain momentum with a late 7-3 run to cut the deficit to 23-18, but it was too little, too late as the Hawks clinched the set and a 2-0 lead in the match.

Set 3: MDES 25, GW 15
• MDES had its best-hitting set of the night in the third and final set, swinging .256 (16k-6e-39a) en route to the match-clinching 25-15 win.
