American Made Movie Review

Tom Cruise stars in American Made

Fly Like an Eagle

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Barry Seal (Tom Cruise) a TWA pilot, is recruited by the CIA to provide reconnaissance on the burgeoning communist threat in Central America and soon finds himself in charge of one of the biggest covert CIA operations in the history of the United States that spawned the birth of the MedellĂn cartel and eventually almost brought down the Reagan White House with the Iran Contra scandal. Directed by Doug Liman.

Seal declares, "I had my fingers on every pie on the rack." He wasn't kidding. Drug smuggling, gun running, spying... Cruise does it all in Liman's entertaining American Made; and he manages to do it without breaking into one of his trademark movie sprints. Fear not, he's still Tom Cruise, crossing paths with the likes of Pablo Escobar, Manuel Noriega and Ollie North; but instead of his usual bag of Mission: Impossible tricks, he relies on Southern charm and gusto to win the day. Fast-paced and funny, with a refreshing dash of realism and sex appeal. Sounds good to me.
