2017 Bluemont Arlington 5K & 10K to Benefit EOD Warrior Foundation

From our friends at the EOD Warrior Foundation...

There will be a 5K and 10K held to benefit the EOD Warrior Foundation. The 2017 Bluemont Arlington 5K & 10K will take place on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail, offering participants a beautiful paved course that provides views of nature and historical places. The easy, scenic course is open to both runners and walkers. There is also a virtual run option for those who would like to participate, but can’t make the date. All participants receive a finisher’s medal and event tech shirts for those who register prior to September 6, 2017. The race is chip timed, with the 10K beginning at 8:45 AM, and the 5K beginning at 9:00 AM. Registration fees are $25 for the 5K, and $40 for the 10K. There is race day registration available for those who arrive 45 minutes prior to the start time. The race starts and ends at the Bluemont Park, located at 329 N. Manchester Street in Arlington, Virginia.

EOD stands for Explosive Ordnance Disposal, the disarming and disposal of bombs. EOD technicians are highly-trained military members serving in the Army, Marines, Navy and Air Force who are responsible for disarming, rendering safe and disposing bombs. The EOD profession is one of the most dangerous occupations in the military. Proceeds from the event help support the EOD Warrior Foundation mission to improve the quality of life for the EOD family by providing financial relief, scholarship opportunities, physical, social, and emotional support.
