From our friends at Compassion Over Killing...

DC VegFest, the East Coast’s Largest Vegan Festival, Returns to Yards Park

Free event welcomes vegans, pre-vegans, dogs, kids and all on Saturday, September 2

Compassion Over Killing is proud to present DC VegFest 2017 on Saturday, Sept. 2 from 11 AM - 6 PM in the nation’s capital. Hosted outdoors at DC’s beautiful Yards Park, DC VegFest is a free festival of food, music, education, inspiration, and fun.

More than 20,000 festival-goers - vegans and pre-vegans alike - are expected to explore the many joys and flavors of plant-based foods, as well as discover how leaving meat off our plates helps to protect our health, the planet, and animals.

This event features renowned speakers and expert chefs whipping up culinary creations on the main stage; a Kids’ Zone with interactive activities; live entertainers in the music tent; more than 130 vendors (many of which offer free food samples); a beer garden, and so much more. Dogs are welcome (must be leashed) in our shaded Barking Lot sponsored and operated by the Humane Rescue Alliance, which will also have adoptable animals on site.

This year’s DC VegFest speakers include:
• US Congressman Jamie Raskin, from Maryland’s 8th District

• Vegan rapper Grey

• Vegan entrepreneur and chef, Miyoko Schinner, CEO/Founder of Miyoko’s Kitchen,
author of “Artisan Vegan Cheese”

• Holistic nutritionist Dr. Ruby Lathon

• Cookbook author Eddie Garza, “¡Salud! Vegan Mexican Cookbook”

• A former undercover investigator with Compassion Over Killing

• And more to come!

“DC VegFest is a fun, free, and flavorful way to discover the many benefits of choosing plant- based foods for our health, the planet, and animals,” says Erica Meier, Executive Director of Compassion Over Killing. “Now in its ninth year with tens of thousands of people joining us, Compassion Over Killing is excited to help put vegan eating on the map in the nation’s capital.
