The Fate of the Furious Movie Review

Dwayne Johnson stars in The Fate of the Furious

Make It Rain

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: The latest installment of the Fast and the Furious franchise welcomes two Oscar-winning actresses: Charlize Theron plays Cipher, the latest villain to torment Dominic Toretto and his crew, while Helen Mirren joins the cast after publicly lobbying for a role to sate her real-life love of racing. Fast 8 also stars Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Kurt Russell, Elsa Pataky, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jason Statham, and Scott Eastwood. Directed by F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton.)

"Rule number one: Know your audience." The Fast & Furious franchise knows its audience... intimately. It grows more preposterous with each chapter, but who cares? It's a literal blast to sit through. There's even more characters this go-round, swapping cars, insults and "nuclear footballs" to their heart's content. Some are good (Diesel, Johnson, Statham.) Some not so good (Eastwood, Rodriguez, Theron.) Ultimately, the good outweighs the bad; but perhaps it's time for F9 (it's inevitable) to dial it down a notch or two (a la Fast & Furious 6, my favorite.) Regardless, it's gonna make a boat submarine-load of money.
