May 7 Event Brings Churchill Downs to DC
Food and drink specials, hat contest, giveaways and more
Georgetown Events’ newest restaurant, Due South, brings Churchill Downs to DC for its First Annual Due South Derby Day. From 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Saturday, May 7th, guests will enjoy Derby-themed food, drinks, contests and giveaways leading up to “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports.” The event is free to attend, and Due South looks forward to bringing the Derby to The Yards neighborhood.
About Due South Derby Day:
Drink Specials: Guests will enjoy an array of Derby-themed cocktails, including the traditional Mint Julep, the Sweet Tea Julep, Bourbon Punch, and $40 Bottomless Frozen Juleps. The first 50 guests to order Bottomless Frozen Juleps will receive an official 2016 Kentucky Derby julep glass. Due South is the only restaurant in the DC area to offer these keepsake glasses to its guests. Beer specials include $20 beer buckets, $3 Budweiser products, and $4 Blue Point Brewing “Hoptical Illusion” IPA on draft.

Food Specials: Chef Rusty will prepare Derby Day specials reminiscent of “My Old Kentucky Home,” including Beer Cheese Crostini, Kentucky Hot Browns, Ham and Biscuits, Rusty’s “Kentucky Fried Chicken,” and more.
Hat Contest: Ladies can don their favorite hats and fascinators to participate in the Derby Hat Contest. A panel of judges will vote on their favorite headwear, and the first place winner receives a $150 Due South gift card. The second place winner receives a $100 gift card, and the third place winner receives a $50 gift card.
Door Prizes: Door prizes are brought to you by our friends at Anheuser-Busch, Billy Reid, Hugh & Crye, Pure Barre DC Capitol Hill, Vineyard Vines, and Woodford Reserve.
