Ingrid Bergman: In Her Own Words Movie Review

I Am Ingrid

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: A captivating look behind the scenes of the remarkable life of a young Swedish girl (Ingrid Bergman) who became one of the most celebrated actresses of American and World cinema. Directed by Stig Björkman.

Evidently, the Kardashians aren't the only ones worthy of paparazzi. Once upon a time, Bergman turned heads with the best of 'em; and Ingrid Bergman: In Her Own Words paints an intimate portrait of a Hollywood legend with no regrets and an incessant desire to start over. The footage is incredible (screen tests, old TV interviews, etc.) but what's most revealing is Bergman's apparent need to reinvent/relocate herself every decade or so. She declares, "I don't want roots: I want to be free," and that she does, consequences notwithstanding. It's bold, honest (to a fault) and fascinating to watch.
