City Tap House Hosts Events to Celebrate DC Beer Week, August 9-16

City Tap House, the craft beer-focused restaurant located at 901 9th Street, NW is hosting a week of special events in honor of DC Beer Week. Craft beer enthusiasts will not want to miss City Tap House’s Stoudt’s Tap Takeover on Sunday, August 9; If King George Won” featuring English Craft Beer on Draft on Monday, August 10; “How to Start a Brewery” Panel Discussion/Q&A with Local Brewers on Wednesday, August 12; Cider & Mead Tap Takeover on Thursday, August 13, as well as the “Monkey 3 Way” featuring Victory Golden Monkey Tap Takeover and Banana Food Specials on Friday, August 14. For more information about these events please visit: http://www.citytaphousedc.com. • “Stoudt’s Tap Takeover” will be held Sunday, August 9th from 11 AM to close. City Tap House will host a brunch with Carol Stoudt, founder of Stoudt’s Brewing Company out of Adamstown, Pennsylvania and will load their beer lines with the best year round, seasonal, and brewer’s reserve style beers. Featured drafts - all of which follow the Bavarian purity laws allowing nothing but barley, hops, water and yeast to be used - include Pils, GoldLager, Scarlet Lady ESB, American Pale Ale, Fourplay IPA, Karnival Kolsch, Hefe, and Multiple Personality Disorder. Prices range from $6 to $10 per draft.


• “If King George Won” will be held Tuesday, August 11th from 11:30 AM to close. City Tap House will examine what the craft beer scene in the US would look like if the British had won the Revolutionary War, and pour flavorful craft beers out of England. Standouts include Harviestoun Old Engine Oil, JW Lees Vintage Harvest Ale 2011, The Wild Beer Co. Evolver IPA and the Beavertown Gamma Ray. Other planned featured breweries from the United Kingdom’s burgeoning craft beer movement include Buxton, Siren and Fyne Ales. Prices range from $8 to $12 per draft.

• “How to Start a Brewery”will be held Wednesday, August 12th from 6 PM to 7 PMDCBeer.com’s Co-Editor Chris Van Orden will host a panel discussion about how to start a brewery with local brewers including Jeff Hancock from DC Brau Brewing Company, Mike McGarvey from 3 Stars Brewing Company, Justin Cox from Atlas Brew Works and Josh Chapman from Bluejacket Brewery. Space is limited, and those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP via email at: info@citytaphousedc.com.

• “Cider & Mead Tap Takeover” will take place Thursday, August 13 from 11:30 AM to close. City Tap House will offer a selection of ciders and meads on tap in addition to ten cask beers. Refreshing ciders for the evening include Millstone Cellars, Jack’s Cider, Bold Rock Hard Cider, Potter’s Craft Cider and Mckenzie’s Hard Cider. Standout meaderies that will be featured on tap include Charm City Mead works and B. Nektar Meadery, as well as casks from breweries such as Flying Dog Brewery, Oliver Brewing Company, 3 Stars and Mad Fox Brewing Company. Pricing ranges from $6 to $14 per draft.

• “Monkey 3 Way” will be held Friday, August 14th from 4 PM to close. The restaurant will dedicate at least five of their tap lines to beers from Victory Brewing Company out of Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Beers that will be available include Sour Monkey, Golden Monkey, Cask-Conditioned Golden Monkey and more. Prices range from $6 to $12 per draft. For the perfect pairing, Culinary Director Brian Cooke will create a variety of banana food specials, which will be available in addition to the regular a la carte menu exclusively during dinner service. Standouts include Banana Fritters with lime crèma and cilantro chimichurri; Crispy Plantain Mofongo with lump crab, rock shrimp Benton’s ham, and charred tomato broth, as well as a Banana and Toasted Coconut Cream Pie. Food specials are priced from $8 to $22 each.
