Star Wars: The Last Jedi Movie Review

Mark Hamill stars in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

(Un)happy Beeps

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: In Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the Skywalker saga continues as the heroes of The Force Awakens join the galactic legends in an epic adventure that unlocks age-old mysteries of the Force and shocking revelations of the past. Stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong'o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, and Gwendoline Christie. Directed by Rian Johnson.

Perhaps it's time for the much-ballyhooed Star Wars franchise to make some long-overdue changes. Driver's Kylo Ren alludes to it (a lot.) Luke Skywalker too, "It's time for the Jedi to end." Just how many times do we have to watch the same movie (characters, story, etc.) and pretend to love it? I'm stopping at eight (no one counts Rogue One, right?) The Last Jedi lacks charm, is overlong and poorly written with surprisingly unimpressive "special" effects. Wouldn't it be nice if Disney could slow down, and make a good movie, versus recouping its $4 billion investment ahead of schedule?

Grade: D+
