Distillery Named No. 2 Best Craft Gin Distillery in the U.S. Partnering with Local Cocktail Bar at Largest Gin Festival in the Country
Today Durham Distillery announced that it will have a presence at this year’s Ginworld in Washington, DC. In the past year, the distillery has won more than a dozen awards including the New York International Spirits Competition North Carolina Gin Distillery of the Year and No. 2. Craft Gin Distillery in the U.S. by USA TODAY 10Best. The distillery is partnering with Wisdom for a unique gin and tonic event on Wednesday, March 29.
2017 marks the launch of Ginworld, which started as a Gin Week Gin Festival in St. Louis in 2015 and has since expanded into becoming the largest gin festival in the United States. The event was created for industry insiders and gin lovers to come together to experience the world of gin and elevate knowledge and exposure of gin and spirits. This year, Ginworld will include events in Washington, DC, and San Francisco, and will expand internationally to England in June. Attendees will include distillers, restaurant and bar owners, brand ambassadors, and spirit educators with a mutual affinity for gin.
In previous years, more than 60 bars and restaurants participated in the event. This year at Ginworld, restaurants and bars will each place a cocktail on the menu for their host gin brand and will host educational seminars and distillery meet and greets.
The first Ginworld in Washington, DC will take place from Monday, March 27 through Saturday, April 1 and feature participating bars and restaurants across the city. Durham Distillery, which has won more than 25 awards for its CONNIPTION gins since opening in 2015, has partnered with Wisdom, a cocktail bar in Capitol Hill with the largest gin selection in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. On March 29, Durham Distillery will be on site to create unique gin and tonics featuring the CONNIPTION American Dry and CONNIPTION Navy Strength gins and homemade tonic from Alley 26 in Durham.
