Captain America: Civil War Movie Review

Chris Evans leads the charge in Captain America: Civil War

Go Break Some Eggs

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Marvel's Captain America: Civil War finds Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps - one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability. Co-stars Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Rudd, Emily VanCamp, Tom Holland, Frank Grillo, William Hurt and Daniel Brühl. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.

"We need to be put in check." Amen to that, Tony. Captain America: Civil War manages to widen the Marvel universe even further, adding multiple new characters (all hail Black Panther & Spider-Man) and storylines to an already crowded field. The action's spectacular (particularly the airport battle and Cap & Bucky's stairwell escape) but I felt exhausted afterwards (147 minutes = too long.) Suggestions? Less superheroes (adios Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch & Vision) more humor (save for Mackie, who's hilarious) and no 3D. Otherwise, keep doing what you're doing: Marvel obviously has a firm finger on its audience's pulse... and wallets. Cha-ching!
