Deadpool Movie Review

Ryan Reynolds stars as/in Deadpool

Angel of the Morning

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: Based upon Marvel Comics' most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life. Directed by Tim Miller.

Reynolds "takes unsportsmanlike conduct to a whole new level" in Deadpool, a jarring (and uproarious) new addition to the Marvel Universe. It's littered flooded with dirty one-liners/hilarious jokes (i.e. Taken) and explosive action/violence; but truth be told, it's 10 times better than I thought it would be. Reynolds is terrific, taking shots at everyone (including multiple versions of himself, even Green Lantern) while somehow avoiding overkill. Not sure how he's gonna play with others (Iron Man, Hulk, etc.) but this is a coming-out party like no other. "Deadpool... sounds like a fucking franchise." Boy, does it ever!

Grade: B+
