The Revenant Movie Review

Leonardo DiCaprio stars in The Revenant

Leo's Revenge

IMDb Plot: A frontiersman named Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s is on a quest for survival after being brutally mauled by a bear. Directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu. Co-stars Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, and Domhnall Gleeson.

DiCaprio holds his tongue (for the most part) in Iñárritu's gorgeous western The Revenant; but don't let the lack of words fool you... This is the performance that earns Leo his long overdue Oscar. You could make a similar case for Iñárritu; but 156 minutes is a lot to ask of any audience, even one on the edge of its collective seat for most of the movie. The battle scenes (three, if you include the bear attack) are absolutely magnificent, and DiCaprio displays such a wide range of powerful, raw emotions... it would be a crime if they went unrewarded.
