Agora Celebrates Turkish Restaurant Week 2015

Guests Can Enjoy Wallet-Friendly Prices on Authentic Mediterranean Cuisine for Lunch and Dinner

Agora, the Mediterranean oasis located just off Dupont Circle at 1527 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20036, invites guests to celebrate Turkish Restaurant Week with a special menu available September 12-20 offered at both lunch and dinner. September marks Turkish Cultural Heritage Month. It will be offer a variety of events showcasing Turkish culture, art, fashion and cuisine. Turkish cuisine is recognized as one of the world’s most diverse and savory cuisines, and Agora's four-course restaurant week menu allows diners the opportunity to tantalize their palates with authentic Turkish dishes from the Aegean Sea. Agora will offer guests a four-course lunch which is priced at $18 per person, and a four-course dinner priced at $30 per person (tax and gratuity is not included, and the entire table must participate.)

Lunch begins with a first-course sampler prepared by Executive Chef Ghassan Jarrouj featuring Htipiti, roasted red peppers, feta, thyme, olive oil; Cacık, strained yogurt, cucumber, mint, vinegar, garlic, and olive oil, and Hummus, purée of chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, topped with olive oil, followed by a selection of second course options such as Kaşık Salad with diced tomatoes, onions, red and green peppers, parsley, cucumber, feta cheese, black olive, olive oil, vinegar, and Maras pepper, and Arugula  Salad with olive oil, tomatoes, arugula, goat cheese, and lemon juice. Third course highlights include Yaprak Dolma with grape leaves stuffed with rice, ground lamb and beef, and topped with yogurt and pepper sauce; Salmon, grilled salmon with pistachio pesto and citrus salad, and Adana Kebap, skewered ground lamb and beef served on pita bread with grilled tomato and sumac onions. For a sweet finish, diners can choose from traditional Turkish desserts such as Kadayif, disks of shredded phyllo dough layered with vanilla milk pudding topped with orange blossom honey, and pistachios; Pistachio Baklava, phyllo dough with pistachios and orange blossom syrup, and Rice Pudding, cooked rice with cream, milk, vanilla bean, topped with apricot cinnamon and black currants.


For dinner, guests can chose from a variety of dishes on a pre-selected four-course menu. Menu highlights include Imam Bayildi, baby eggplant stuffed with onions, tomatoes, pine nuts, and garlic; Chef’s Börek, crispy phyllo roll, filled with goat cheese and savory Maras with tomato marmalade; Bruksel Lahana, fried Brussels sprouts with white truffle crème fraiche, and urfa pepper; Kibbeh, fried ground beef and bulgur dumpling stuff with ground beef and lamb, almonds, pine nuts, and served over yogurt sauce; Grilled Branzino, grilled filet of boneless Mediterranean Sea Bass served with olive bread and grilled lemon; Lamb Loin served with butternut squash puree, fresh mint, toasted hazelnuts and sour cherry sauce; Shish Tavuk, marinated grilled chicken breast with grilled tomato, sumac-onions, and served on garlic pita bread as well as Garides Taya, sautéed shrimp with shaved garlic, lemon juice, cilantro, olive oil and diced tomatoes. Dessert options will mirror those found at for lunch.

Dinner is served Sunday through Wednesday from 5 PM until 11 PM, and Thursday through Saturday from 5 PM until 12 midnight. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 11 AM until 3 PM.
