DoubleTree by Hilton Largo-Washington, DC Celebrates Grand Opening!

From our friends at Crescent Hotels & Resorts...

Government officials, hotel clients and honored guests gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the DoubleTree by Hilton Largo/Washington, DC, the only full service property in the area. The hotel is owned by Frontier Development & Hospitality Group LLC, and managed by Crescent Hotels & Resorts, a leading operator of hotels with over 100 properties in North American. The official ribbon cutting included County Executive Rushern Baker, Frontier Development’s Evens Charles, Capstone’s Norm Jenkins, Prince George’s Chamber of Commerce’s David Harrington, Hilton Worldwide’s Charles Gremillion and Crescent Hotels & Resorts’ Sami Zeitoun.

Guests were greeted by a contemporary new lobby with a fashionable, welcoming design. As guests registered, they enjoyed the exiting sounds of the AD Project, a local jazz band. The 2,300 square feet of event space offered a wide variety of foods from hand-passed flash cure tuna with citrus cremolata to a variety of desserts such as homemade chocolate torte triangle lollipops.

“We are excited to bring this Hilton brand to the Largo area,” said Joseph Galvan, hotel General Manager. “Because we wanted to showcase that the DoubleTree is part of a bigger family, the Crescent Hotels family, we brought in award winning chefs from our other Washington, DC area hotels to share in the festivities. By doing so, we offered various food stations representing the diversity of the Washington, DC region.” The function space, all located on one floor, is large enough to accommodate meetings up to 170 attendees.

The VIP guests were given a complete tour of the hotel, with the first stop at the XC BAR & BISTRO, offering a variety of regional favorites for hotel guests and locals alike. “The design of the restaurant and its adjacent lounge, with its openness makes for an inviting place to relax for overnight guests as well as locals,” said Galvan. Just outside the XC LOUNGE is patio seating anchored by a fire pit as a focal point. “With the tremendous growth of companies and government agencies in the Largo area, we have already received great feedback from the local community. It seems everyone has been craving a new local hot spot,” added Galvan.

All 184 guest rooms have been designed and outfitted with a chic, contemporary look and feel. The hotel offers a state-of-the-art fitness center and indoor pool. Because of the hotels proximity to Washington, DC (less than 9 miles) the hotel offers complimentary shuttle service to Metrorail’s Blue Line, giving guests direct access to the city as well as National Airport and Union Station. Both transportation hubs are located at Metrorail stops. The complimentary shuttle also runs to area restaurants, shopping and entertainment opportunities.

The hotel is also close to FedEx Field, one of the premier Washington, DC area locations for concerts and special events, as well as Joint Base Andrews, the home to Air Force One. “We appreciate how hard our military work for us, and are glad to be able to offer those traveling to Andrews Air Force Base the comforts they deserve,” said Galvan. “Hilton brands have always supported government and military travelers and we look forward to caring on that long standing tradition.”

“Largo, Maryland has emerged into a key area of the national capital region, and we believe this is an ideal time to add a world class brand to Prince Georges County” stated Evens Charles, President and CEO of Frontier Development. “With key government agencies, major corporations as well as tremendous residential and commercial growth, the area truly needs an upscale hotel. There has been significant business oriented growth in the market, and that is why we decided to invest our capital here and develop the DoubleTree Hotel in Largo, Maryland.”

“We are committed to making this investment into a best in class, business oriented hotel” stated Norman Jenkins, President of Capstone Development, and a partner in the hotel. “We worked shoulder to shoulder with our architects, engineers, and Hilton Worldwide to ensure that we not only meet, but exceed the expectations of our guests.”
