Focus Movie Review

Will Smith & Margot Robbie (r) star in Focus

Petty Thieves

Rotten Tomatoes Plot: A con artist (Will Smith) takes on an inexperienced apprentice (Margot Robbie) in this crime comedy from the filmmaking duo behind Crazy Stupid Love, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa.

"With friends like you, who needs luck?" Unfortunately, you need a lot more than luck to rescue this superficial "crime-comedy." Nobody's cooler than Smith; but Focus fails to utilize most/all of his considerable talents. Robbie (minus the Long Island accent) looks good, but that's about it. Didn't buy their over-cutesy romance either, nor the master/apprentice angle. Cliche to a fault, this isn't Harry in Your Pocket (far from it.) Adrian Martinez is hysterical; and BD Wong steals the show with, "He likes to pretend that he's Kevin Costner, and I'm Whitney Houston." Otherwise, all show, not much else.
