Siam House Food Review

Drunken Noodles with Chicken

You don't have to "break the bank" to eat in Cleveland Park... Not with Siam House's $9.95 lunch special available (Tuesday-Friday.) The cozy Thai eatery offers your choice of starter, entree and soda for under $10 (carry-out included... Take that Paragon Thai.) Not bad at all, especially if you like your food spicy with a capital S.

I love spicy food, and Siam House doesn't disappoint: Their Drunken Noodles with Chicken burns the tongue... but in a good, Homer Simpson way (complete with requisite tears.) The noodles are sautéed with basil leaves, tomatoes, red peppers, chili and garlic, and are delicious all by their lonesome. That's important, b/c there's not much chicken to be found. What a shame, since the chicken is actually pretty tasty too. That said, it's hard to argue with a full plate/container of good food.

Spring Rolls

Don't forget, your lunch special also comes with a starter (mostly soups, with one salad and Siam House's popular Spring Rolls.) I chose the latter, and enjoyed both with sweet chili sauce. Once again, it's hard to find fault with two spring rolls as a warm-up. Toss in a can of Coke, fast (and friendly) service, and you have one of the best lunch options in the area. The dining space is downright tiny, especially when you take away their outdoor patio (the temperature was about 25* today.) Don't expect privacy (the tables practically sit on top of each other) but everyone here looked blissfully happy: You don't get looks like that, without really good food.

One final recommendation... from Bob, my good pal and "food benefactor" for the day (not to mention, one of the pickier eaters I know.) He loved it (Kaprow with Chicken.) He also paid for it (thanks Bro) so his endorsement carries a lot of weight! After proudly displaying an empty plate, he admitted that he'd gladly go back for more. So would I. Now, if I can only convince him to pay for it again...
