Senior Jessica Burr - 10 digs

Rhode Island (14-15, 6-7 A-10) used a balance attack with three players recording double-digit kills to end GW's four-match win streak.

The Colonials committed 11 attack errors in the opening set which allowed Rhode Island to lead wire-to-wire en route to a 25-22 victory.

A GW rally late in the second set fell short as Rhode Island took a 2-0 lead in the match with another 25-22 victory. The Colonials trailed 18-14 before using an 8-4 run to get within two points of the lead but a kill by Franki Darnold clinched the set for the Rams.

The Colonials bounced back in the third set, opening on a 10-3 run before Rhode Island fought back to cut the deficit to three points at 19-17. The Rams then used a 4-1 run to take a brief advantage at 21-20, but the Colonials responded with a 3-1 burst to take a 23-22 lead. GW clinched the set with an attack error and kill by Rachael Goss to avoid the sweep.

Rhode Island jumped out to an 18-11 lead in the fourth set and never looked back, clinching the match with a 25-18 win.

Newman finished with 17 kills and eight digs and was joined in double figures by junior Landon Garvik, who put down 11 winners in addition to five block assists.

Freshman Emily Clemens added her ninth double-double of the season with 33 assists and 10 digs.
