A Distillation of Rumour
IMDb Plot: A WWII psychiatrist evaluates Nazi leaders before the Nuremberg trials, growing increasingly obsessed with understanding evil as he forms a disturbing bond with Hermann Göring (Russell Crowe.) Directed by James Vanderbilt.
First, the obvious, this is not 1961’s Judgement at Nuremberg. #Nuremberg aims to dazzle as a smart, historical epic, but can’t escape its numerous shortcuts yet alone Rami Malek’s cringeworthy performance as a shrink with (way) too much personality. Fellow Oscar winner Russell Crowe fares better, but even his larger-than-life portrayal can’t lift this middling effort to its historical equivalence. Perhaps it’s time to leave history to the historians?
