You've probably driven by it 100 times... The John Ericsson National Memorial is located near the National Mall (at Independence Avenue & Ohio Drive) and is dedicated to engineer and inventor John Ericsson.
The Swedish-born Ericsson is famous for inventing the screw propeller and designing the iron-plated USS Monitor during the American Civil War.
